Their wedding involved some twists, turns, and a whole lot of love. Months of planning was thrown out the window when the Spring Fire required that this couple adjust their wedding plans. It seems like only days ago we sat down with Matt and Michelle over some pizza and discussed the details of their La Veta wedding. Then, as the day approached everything changed. Through the generosity of friends, the dedication of family, and the commitment of this community, an entire wedding was replanned and relocated in only hours.

We’ve seen a lot of weddings with varying levels of organization and planning. I have to say that the ability for this crowd to throw a wedding together and have it run so smoothly says a lot about their teamwork and love. We plan, we dream, and we envision what our wedding will be like. We plan, we dream, and we envision our life. When it comes down to it there is only so much we can control. Matt and Michelle have done an amazing job building a strong and enduring relationship. They’ve surrounded themselves by open-hearted friends and family. They’ve built a life together that can survive challenge and change both on their wedding day and in the marriage ahead.

Cheers to you Matt and Michelle! Your wedding may not have been what you planned or envisioned. You may continue to feel the loss of such a traumatic weekend even as you feel the immense joy of the wedding day that resulting. In the midst of fire and destruction I saw strength. I saw you have the opportunity to do what so few of us have the strength to do, and that’s to lean on your loved ones. Being able to be there to help you celebrate was an honor. Witnessing the love and support reminded me of the power of friendship. I can’t wait to share this preview with you.
